This is what Francois van Coke is up to these days

Cape Town – Francois van Coke has only one speed and that is full throttle.

Not only did he recently conclude a gruelling but successful final tour with Van Coke Kartel and recorded the new Fokofpolisiekar album, with solo shows in-between, but he is also involved with a number of other projects.

Francois is burning the candle at both ends as always and he is not letting up.

#VanCokeCollab winner announced

Francois and Red Bull Studios recently ran a competition to give upcoming bands or artists the unique opportunity to collaborate on a song with him. Entrants had to submit a track that Francois will re-work, produce, record and perform on with the winner at the Red Bull Studios in Cape Town.

Out of the over 70 entries received, Francois chose the fantastic up-and-coming artist, Matt Carstens.

"I liked Matt’s tune a lot. It was my favourite out of the 73 entries. The song has a very strong chorus and I can’t wait to work with him on it," says Francois.

Francois and Matt will hit Red Bull Studios on 21 August to start working on Matt’s entry titled Breakdown Society

Keep an ear out…

Francois and Die Gevaar will perform a short live set at Red Bull Studios Cape Town for 5FM’s Hamman Time show on 16 August between 11:00 and 12:00.

More Francois van Coke music videos coming soon…

kykNET recently invited artists and bands to submit ideas for music videos. The 10 best ideas were to win R50 000 each to get the music video made. The idea by Motion City Films for Francois’ song, Beter Mens was chosen as part of the lucky 10.

Beter Mens will be showcased on kykNET NOU!’s Top 20 on Friday, 4t August from 20:00.

Francois’ favourite song from his Hierdie is die Lewe album, My Hart, is also in pre-production for a music video. The video will be shot in August and will be released on 29 Augusts 2017. The My Hart music video will be produced by Young Gun Films in Cape Town.

Walking for HELP – A fundraising initiative

Francois will be working with charity activist extraordinaire Tracy Cohen to raise funds for HELP (Homework Enrichment Lifeskills Programme), an amazing and special organization that runs an after-school programme in the Western Cape. They develop learners’ ability and confidence, and give them a better chance at a brighter future.

Tracy Cohen has volunteered with HELP for a couple of years, and has seen the difference that the programme has made in the lives of the kids.

On 31 January 2018 Tracy and Francois are going to be taking a walk along the Sea Point Promenade to end the campaign.

"Because Tracy has Cerebral Palsy, a neurological condition which causes her to walk differently, she has a deep compassion for people that are in need and wants to help others who are facing difficulties," says Francois.
