Cape Town - Universal Music announced on Friday that they’ve signed Gavin Edwards, 35, runner up of the incredibly popular first season of M-Net’s The Voice South Africa.
Gavin, a member of Team Bobby van Jaarsveld and firm fan favourite from his Blind audition onwards, wowed audience members with his powerful performances and larger than life voice.
On Friday Gavin released his debut single with Universal Music, Sparks. This uplifting, anthemic single shows off Gavin’s signature voice that lead him to the final round of the hit TV show.
"I can’t explain how excited I am to be a part of the massive Universal Music family and I’m excited for what the future has in store for us. When we started brainstorming for the album and the first single, everything just started to fall into place with the single Sparks," explains Gavin of being signed to the label.
Gavin will be going into studio in August to record his debut full length album with Universal Music set for release in late September 2016. The Voice South Africa Season 1 is currently repeating on kykNET NOU!, channel 146 on DStv.
