We ask Seal 24 quick questions in 7 minutes

Cape Town – Last month, fresh from his first set at Coachella, we got to ask British singer Seal some questions ahead of his South African tour.

ICYMI: Seal is heading to SA to plays shows in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, with the first show taking place this Sunday!

This is what he revealed:

1. Where are you right now?
Los Angeles.

2. Have you been to South Africa before?
Twice and I loved it!

3. What are you looking forward to most?
Connecting... Connecting with the Motherland. 

4. What is the one song that fans can expect to hear at the show?
Uh... Kiss From A Rose.

5. What’s the most exciting thing in your life right now?
Same as it ever was... my children.

6. Where does the name Seal come from?
It was given to me by my grandfather.

7. What is the last movie you watched?
Last movie I watched... hmmm, I don’t watch a lot of movies. I watch TV, one of my favourite TV shows is The Americans.

8. What is your favourite instrument to play?
Guitar. 

9. How old were you when you performed in front of people for the first time?
Eleven.

10. What is the one song that you don’t like to sing live?
There aren’t any.

11. What is the fondest memory of your childhood?
Being at the beach when I was 4 years old with my foster parents. 

12. What has been a career highlight?
Performing with David Bowie and singing on his record.

13. What is your favourite beverage?
Water. (says Seal while taking an audible sip over the phone)

14. What do you order at a drive-through?
I don’t.

15. What do you never travel without?
A computer of some form.

16. Do you have any rituals before going on stage?
Uhm... it changes from time to time. My ritual starts in the morning, making sure everything is in rhythm and making sure I carry that rhythm to the stage. It starts from when I wake up. 

17. How do you keep fit?
Running and circuit training.

18. What’s been the best advice you’ve ever received?
Connect. Connect with people.

19. Who is the one person you would still like to collaborate with?
Uhm, that girl from London Grammar. I can never remember her name, she’s got a beautiful voice, I love her voice. 

20. Have you ever googled yourself?
Yes, but pictures of seals come up. Or rather they used to.

21. What’s your favourite TV show of all time?
Breaking Bad.

22. If you weren’t a singer, what would you be doing?
Doctor.

23. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
I sang with Gallant over this weekend, and he said that when he was growing up I gave him permission to be different.

24. If you could go on a holiday right now, where would you go?
Well, I’ve just come back from Bora Bora. That was spectacular so I’ll go back there!
