We chat to Slow Jack as they hit the road for STRAB music festival

Cape Town – After recently releasing their third single and receiving some praise from a well-known international engineer, Slow Jack is hitting the road to STRAB music festival.

The band’s single was mixed and mastered by Grammy winning Los Angeles based engineer John Paterno. He has worked with renowned international artists including Faith Hill, Robbie Williams, Glee Soundtrack, Tim McGraw and Sheryl Crow to name a few.

"I’m really happy to have made the connection with Slow Jack. It was great fun being involved with the mix. There is a great future for this band," said John Paterno.

We got to ask the band - Hannes Muller (vocals and guitar), Jayme van Tonder (vocals and violin), Jeandre Schultz (lead guitar), Andre Skywalker (bass) and Adrian Fowler (percussion) – a few questions as they hit the road:

Your new single, Ode to the Future is really catchy, can you tell us a bit more about the song? What inspired it?

When we wrote the song we just started the band, there was a lot of excitement of what the future will bring and what past hurdles would teach. The year was also coming to an end and the general idea of a new year, launching the band and turning to a new page sparked something. The future is ever-changing, and our Ode has progressed so much in the past 15 months. Sometimes the feeling of uncertainty should not be trusted and you should just go with it.

Are you guys planning on releasing a full album soon? What can fans expect?

A full album is definitely on its way. The band has just moved in to a house together, and I think we will make magic [or at least magic to us) within the next couple of months writing new material and also refining already written music. To be honest, we don’t know what to expect, but we hope it will be fun.

How are you guys preparing for STRAB?

Moslty charging our batteries for the Road To STRAB and also figuring out how we will fit all our gear into our trailer. At this moment, Hannes and Jeandre are running down the street to test the Walkie-Talkie’s range.

What’s the one thing you never tour without?

We always pack our arsenal with a few mean pranks.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?

Definitely touring some more, working on an album and just living together as a band.
