New York - US pop diva Beyoncé has given birth to a girl named Ivy Blue Carter, media reports said. The baby and mother are doing well.

The New York Daily News reports the singer checked into Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan's upper East Side on Friday night under the name "Ingrid Jackson."

Beyoncé and her husband, hip-hop star Jay-Z, rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for $1.3m, the report said.

On Saturday night, people were seen bringing bags of food and bottles of red wine onto the heavily guarded hospital wing, apparently for celebrations, The Daily News noted.

Several security guards were spotted patrolling the perimeter of the hospital, the paper said.

There has been no official confirmation of the birth.

All we need is another nouveau riche child with no class making bling cool.

You learn from your parents' tastes and friends, and the whole lot is a tacky twinkly nouveau Ed Hardy lifestyle. Renting out the entire hospital floor for a million dollars smacks new money and no class.

So to you 'class' is exposing a newborn to paparazzi flashlights and noisy crowds at a public hospital? Who made you the guardian of class anyways?

So if you were sick and dying on that day, you couldnt go to that hospital coz the entire FLOOR was booked? Wow poor us the other 99%. Congrats B on the baby, next time just build your own hospital to give birth in.

The child's name is Blue Ivy Carter. Journalism these days. Didn't know it was copy paste and save. I could even do it.

@ReunionofIntelligentMinds, I agree. There were hardly any real pics of her carrying, and the birth happened just to fast. Sorry B, but you gotta come real girl.

    Blue Ivy, huh??????????????? WTF

  • Michelle Vlok - 2012-01-09 23:44

Wtf kinda name is Blue Ivy?? Seriously! So she's either gonna be associated with a colour or albums or a roman numeral or a poisonous plant. They had to name their child after work-related experiences! That's like someone at a soft-drink company naming their kid coca-cola because it meant so much to them. Too commercialised. It's like they're equating their child to an album they just dropped. Celebrities should be banned from naming their kids.
