Britons back naked prince

2012-08-26 13:00

London - More than two-thirds of adults in Britain thought Prince Harry cavorting naked with women at a Las Vegas party was acceptable behaviour, according to a poll out on Sunday.

The YouGov survey in The Sunday Times newspaper found that 68% thought the third in line to the throne's antics were acceptable for a young, single man having fun on a private holiday, with 22% saying it was not.

About 75% still had a positive view of the 27-year-old army helicopter pilot.

While the two images of Harry are widely available on the Internet and abroad, only The Sun newspaper has published them in Britain, saying it was striking a blow for press freedom.

About 61% thought media baron Rupert Murdoch's tabloid was wrong to do so, with 25% saying Britain's biggest-selling newspaper had been right to print them.

YouGov sampled 1 731 adults on Thursday and Friday for the poll on whether Harry's behaviour was acceptable and 694 adults on Friday for the poll on The Sun publishing the images.

Shows the level of their moral standards

      delish7564 - 2012-08-26 18:00

Nope, what is shows is open-mindedness, not the narrow-mindedness shown by many others. This was a Private party and the person who "sold-out" Harry has obviously not heard of the saying "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"!!! He's permitted time off from his job and official duties, so why not enjoy himself in the company of friends. Haven't we all done something we regret later at some stage in our lives. See how you cope living in a fish bowl all your life :(

@delirious-h A leader becoming a pornstar! Hardly befitting and a good indication of moral standards

      delish7564 - 2012-08-26 20:45

@defender. Guess you're perfect then and haven't "enjoyed" yourself at a Private party. One can only be a "Porn star" as you so colourfully describe it when you are aware you are being filmed and perform lewd acts. He wasn't. If you are going to slag off the Brits and their moral values, I suggest you get your own house in order first. I love living in SA, but like most countries it isn't perfect as recent tragic events have shown and there are many people in prominent positions who don't behave as perhaps they should. However, as a Brit I can comment on a member of my Royal family, but I wouldn't presume to comment on the behavior of your President or members of his family should they be filmed in their private time off. Perhaps you should also remember, he does a great deal for charity which is more than many others in his position and spends time in Africa with his Sentebale charity. He doesn't have to do that but he chooses to. In my opinion that says a lot more about his moral fibre than being filmed without his knowledge, playing a game in his private time. Then again, perhaps you are one of those narrow-minded people who live a perfect life.

So delish - I guess you have "enjoyed yourself at a private party"? Obviously my idea of a party and yours differ miles. And obviously so do our ideas of what is acceptable and what isn't. I agree with defender

      defenderfujvfk.truthxfuj - 2012-08-26 23:15

@ Jason If zuma were in this, delish would have his knickers in a knot

      delish7564 - 2012-08-27 00:04

@Jason. I never said I approved of this kind of party, it is not something I would choose to do and whether your idea of a party is the same as mine is neither here nor there. As to it being acceptable, I think what happens in private should remain exactly that, private. It was perhaps naive of him and especially his Security not to ensure all phones were handed in and avoid embarrassment like this, however, whilst foolish I don't consider it to be a major deal breaker. I am sure most people if they are being totally honest have done or said something they wish they hadn't, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. If you can, hand on heart, say that, then congratulations, that's great for you, but most people especially those in their twenties have done something they regret..........what is deemed important to some is trivial to others and vice versa. As for agreeing with Defender, that's your perogative just as it is mine to disagree!

@delish stop talking you make no sense your morals are sub-par end of story

@defernder, whatever, your morals enjoy rape, murder, corruption, theft, fraud, polygamy, under age sex, etc etc etc? Thats immoral. Dancing in the nude, is minuscule compared to your morals!!!

      defenderfujvfk.truthxfuj - 2012-08-26 18:31

"your Morals" You dont even know me,but becoming a pornstar is hardly befitting of a leader-figure. Imagine if our president were in that situation.... Yes!! your double standards
