Los Angeles - Celebrities including Khloe Kardashian and Olivia Wilde have taken to Twitter to congratulate President Barack Obama on his inauguration day.

The US president was sworn in to his second term in office in Washingto DC on Monday and stars who attended and those who watched at home were full of praise for Obama.

Khloe tweeted: "Been up early watching the Inauguration #MLK #PresidentObama (sic)" while Olivia added: "I sincerely hope it was Mimosa Monday at the WH today. I would be s****ing myself anyway, but still, a bubbly beta blocker is in order."

Kelly Clarkson, who performed at the event, joking thanked the president for "opening" for her.

She tweeted: "Wow ....I was incredibly nervous and cold ha! I just wanna officially thank President Obama for opening for me haha! Just kidding :) (sic)"

'Who lost his ticket?'
