Charlene Wittstock gains new title

Cape Town – Charlene Wittstock, who is engaged to Prince Albert of Monaco, has been appointed ambassador of the Special Olympics, reports Sarie.

The news was announced during the 69th Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco at the weekend.

Wittstock will be responsible for raising awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

There are 3.7 million athletes with intellectual disabilities in 170 countries.

"I am very excited about this new challenge in my life, I am very happy to be the worldwide ambassador for the Special Olympics," said Wittstock.

The Special Olympics gives people with disabilities the opportunity to achieve their potential, to develop physical fitness, to build self-confidence and to experience the joy of friendship.
