Los Angeles - A judge has sent a man convicted of stalking Shawn Johnson to a California mental hospital for five years.
Robert O'Ryan previously was found to be legally insane when he broke onto the studio lot where the Olympic gold medallist was performing last year on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.
The order Tuesday came after doctors evaluated O'Ryan, who had travelled from Florida to Los Angeles to try to meet the gymnast.
During trial, a prosecutor described O'Ryan as harbouring a dangerous obsession involving Johnson.
