Denzel to host Nobel peace concert

Oslo - Organisers say Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington will host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo.

Artists including British pop band Florence and the Machine, US pop singer Colbie Caillat, pianist Herbie Hancock and singer-songwriter Elvis Costello will also perform at the December 11 show.

Washington said on Thursday he was "honoured to attend" the Nobel Peace Prize Concert "to help spread the message of global peace".

Last year, actor Will Smith and his actress wife Jada Pinkett Smith co-hosted the concert, honouring the 2009 laureate and Smith fan Barack Obama.

The winner of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced in Oslo on October 8. The award is presented on December 10.
