Mexico City - British-born Surrealist painter and sculptor Leonora Carrington has died.
Carrington is considered one of the last of the original Surrealists, and is widely known for her haunting, dreamlike works.
Mexico's National Arts Council has confirmed the death, though not the cause. Mexico City's J Garcia Lopez funeral home said Thursday that Carrington's body had arrived for a wake.
Carrington is believed to have been 94. She was one of a number of artistic and political émigrés who arrived in Mexico in the 1940s.
