Los Angeles - George Clooney and Jennifer Aniston are people's favoured companions to spend an apocalypse with.

The Descendants actor and the Friends star topped respective male and female polls conducted by movie-streaming service Blinkbox, which asked 2 000 people in the UK who they would most like to spend a day of reckoning with after being inspired by Steve Carell's film Seeking a Friend for the End of the World'.

While the majority of females opted for George, James Bond actor Daniel Craig was in second, while World War Z star Brad Pitt was placed in third followed by Ryan Gosling and Robert Pattinson.

Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz were second and third behind Jennifer followed by Jessica Alba and flame-haired beauty Christina Hendricks in fourth and fifth respectively.

Blinkbox's Ben Ayers explained: ''Let's face it, if the world's going to end, we'd all like to go out with a bang, and a clinch with our favourite Hollywood star would certainly help to take the edge off things.''

The top companions, according to the Blinkbox survey:

Male:
1. George Clooney
2. Daniel Craig
3. Brad Pitt
4. Ryan Gosling
5. Robert Pattinson

Female
1. Jennifer Aniston
2. Scarlett Johansson
3. Penelope Cruz
4. Jessica Alba
5. Christina Hendricks
