Houston's body found in bath - report

2012-02-12 17:56

Los Angeles - Whitney Houston was found dead in the bath of her Beverly Hills hotel room, ABC news reported on Sunday citing paramedics who had rushed to the singer's aid but found her "lifeless".

When asked if there were drugs in the pop star's room, Ed Winter, from the Los Angeles county coroner's office, said he could not comment, the report said.

Beverly Hills police were unable to confirm the report when contacted by AFP.

Houston died on Saturday in Beverly Hills on the eve of the Grammy Awards, where the 48-year-old's career is expected to be marked with a musical tribute. A post mortem is expected on Sunday or Monday.

Musicians, many already in Los Angeles ahead of the Grammys, lined up to pay tribute to the singer, who sold over 170 million records before descending into a very public battle with substance abuse.

A police spokesperson on Saturday said there were no obvious signs of criminal intent surrounding Houston's death.

Attempts were made to resuscitate her, but failed.

The "people" giving your comment a thumbs down are not well.

      Tooka - 2012-02-12 23:53

Yeah, and now we gonna have to listen to her cr@p all week on the radio.

"Another angel in the heavenly choir". How short the memories of our people. This is the same woman who once said, when requested by the Reach for a dream Foundation" that she wouldn't visit a terminally ill child in hospital because if she did fulfil that childs dream then every kid in the world would expect her do do the same for them. That same child passsed away without ever having had her dream fulfilled because Ms Houston was too selfish to care. She was a heartless, drug addled and self centered person who thought about nothing but her next fix and she cared about no-one as long as she could get her next dose of heroin. Live by the sword and die by the sword!!!!

      Lynne Honiball - 2012-02-12 22:39

What is wrong with you people??? Do you not have respect for yourselves or life??? Are u telling me that you have NEVER done something stupid and been sorry for it??? What makes u so much better then anyone else?? Whitney had a hell of a life. When u have walked in her shoes then u can talk. Forgive them Whitney they are IDIOTS. RIP and may God be with your family at this time. " I will always love you"

      Lynne Honiball - 2012-02-12 23:02

To Whitney' daughter, family and friends. May God be with u in this time of morning. In my eyes in the end it is not about how u die but how u lived that makes a person. Whitney had a hell of a life. She had good and bad just like anyone. Shame on the person the can put her down. I respect her for never giving up. For the way she kept trying to turn her life around. It could not have been easy with everyone watching ur every move and condemning u. I will always love. Rest in peace Whitney the heartache is gone now

Here's a thought: If your neighbour dies after years of abusing booze and narcotics, he'll be labelled a loser, but when a celeb does it, everybody says "aww shame" and "she was so troubled" etc etc.. I agree her death is a loss to the music world but lets not make her out to be a saint here!!

      Bulie MaGcuma Nyamela - 2012-02-12 19:48

I agree with u Martin if it was maybe a street kid people would say what were u expecting from a street kid but now that its a celebrity they make a lot of sympathy noise let's treat everybody equaly whether u r a celeb or not.

Respect the dead no matter what the circumstances surrounding her death. Lets keep all negative comments to ourself and wait on the coroners report -only then can we speak. Who are we to judge? How would you like people to judge you based on heresay? Think of her family during the time of bereavement. Imagine what will come out of the cupboard the day you close your eyes if people start spreading rumours of your past life then how will your family feel. You be the judge

  • Dirk - 2012-02-12 20:31

    Cocaine,It's a hell of a drug!

  • Rosie - 2012-02-12 20:35

i wonder how many angels live on this earth. I think one person out of each family has got a bad habit. Sometimes you find a whple family is sick. Please do not through stones or call her names. SHE IS DEAD!!!!We are still alive and it is along road to our graves.

  • Charmaine - 2012-02-12 20:56

Only God knows what happened, when He calls us, we have to answer the call, He gioves life and death, and no one knows exactly how and where we are going to die. Death and His Twin Brother are in the Hands Of God alone. May She Rest In Peace, Her music will live on for all generations still to come. May God Grant Peace and comfort to all her loved ones and fans.

  • Lorraine - 2012-02-12 21:01

I actually heard she was off the drugs for over a year now, some say it could have been a heart attack. I hope so though, people always like gossip. RIP Whitney you rocked. People can be so judgemental.

  • Godfried - 2012-02-12 22:10

Spare us your melodramatic drivel, she was a shallow, selfish, slag who deserves to burn in hell.

      Kenneth - 2012-02-13 14:03

How can you say she never gave up-the minute she pushed cocaine up her nose was the day she gave up.How selfish of her to leave behind her kids and family all because she was too weak minded to say no to drugs? I have no sympathy for people who do drugs.Even if she was not on drugs during the time of her death, her drug addiction before would have contributed to her death. That is the problem with drugs that people dont realise? Drugs has an everlasting affect on ones life-thats why we are taught at a young age in school-DON'T DO DRUGS.

Whitney Houston: Born 1963 - Dead Amy Winehouse: Born 1983 - Dead Keith Richards: Born 1943 - Alive Ozzy Osbourne: Born 1948 - Alive Moral of the story: Women can't handle their drugs

      Blip - 2012-02-13 04:13

Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Lowell George and Jerry Garcia can't agree.

      Reinette - 2012-02-13 10:31

Blip you forgot the "youngsters" - Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger< Chris Farley, Zac Foley, Corry Haim, Jim Morrison and River Phoenix. Then a few others (there's just too many to mention) - John Belushi, Pimp C (DJ), Sigmund Freud (really), Giraldo, Payl Gray, Almost all the original band members of The Who, Bruce Lee, Elvis Presley etc

why is everyone so quick to conclude that she died from a drug overdose?- what if she had a heart attack, that so many others die from on a daily basis healthy or not ?

      Kenneth - 2012-02-13 13:56

Whether she died from a drug overdose or not,her drug problem did contribute to it.You dont just die in a bath at 48 years of age unless of some major problem.Had she been clean and never used drugs and looked after herself, she would still be alive.Fact.Her drug addiction had something to do with it-directly or indirectly!!!

      Vanessa - 2012-02-13 14:32

I think people assume it was drug related because of her history of drug abuse, when someone like that or Amy Winehouse etc die suddenly the obviouse choice is overdose
