Kylie tops UK album charts

London - Kylie Minogue's new album Aphrodite has become her fifth UK No 1 album, debuting at the top spot in the UK charts over the July 11 weekend.  Aphrodite hit No 1 a full 22 years to the week since her debut album Kylie entered the UK chart.

Minogue also now holds the distinction of being the first solo artist to chart no 1 albums in the UK in four different decades.

Kylie said: "I've been completely overwhelmed by the reaction to Aphrodite and to hear that the album has got to No 1 is the most amazing news. I am ecstatic!"

Minogue launched the album with a spectacular performance at Ibiza's legendary Pacha, and is now preparing for a world tour in 2011.
