Michelle Obama wants Hollywood help

Beverly Hills - Michelle Obama wants Hollywood to help in her initiative to raise awareness of military families by telling more stories about them.

The first lady addressed members of the writers, producers, directors and actors unions at the Writers Guild Theatre on Monday in Beverly Hills to discuss Joining Forces, an initiative aimed at increasing public consciousness and support of military families.

Obama shared the stage with a National Guard pilot, a retired soldier and the wife of an Army officer. Writer-director JJ Abrams, whose film Super 8 topped the weekend box office, moderated the discussion.

Obama said she hopes Hollywood will show the sacrifices made by military families and how others can help in the "forever battle" to respect and thank military service members.
