'Octomom' pushes pet neutering

Los Angeles - "Don't Let Your Dog or Cat be an Octomom! Always Spay or Neuter."

That's the message unveiled on Wednesday by cash-strapped mother of octuplets Nadya Suleman, otherwise known as the Octomom.

She received $5 000 from animal rights organisation PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to put a 1m by 1.3m sign in her front garden bearing the message. She also received a month's supply of vegetarian food for her sizeable brood which includes the octuplets and their six older siblings.

"I love animals and I do believe they should be spayed or neutered," Suleman said at the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday morning, at which she appeared wearing an animal rights-themed T-shirt. "Humans of course are much different."

The provocative and self-deprecating sign follows reports that Suleman, 34, was facing eviction from the family's southern California home she lives failing to make payments on the loan.

Suleman was widely criticised after giving birth to the octuplets in January 2009 after it emerged that she was a single unemployed mother living on public assistance.
