Prince Harry returns to Afghanistan

2012-09-07 14:34
London - Britain's Prince Harry is back in Afghanistan to serve as a military helicopter pilot four years after his previous deployment there had to be cut short, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday.

The 27-year-old, who hit the headlines last month after he was photographed nude during a wild week of partying in Las Vegas, will spend four months based at Camp Bastion in the restive Helmand province of southern Afghanistan.

"Prince Harry, known as Captain Wales in the military, arrived today at Camp Bastion, Helmand Province, to start an operational tour as an Apache pilot," the MoD said in a statement.

The prince, the third in line to the throne, has made no secret of his desire to return to Afghanistan and serve his country.

Thanks to the media, poor Harry now has a target on his back, and the Taliban will will no doubt be keeping an eye out open for him.....

Yep, quite agree. If anything happens to him, they should be held responsible for releasing this news....by all means write about it after his return, but this puts his safety and that of his team in jeopardy. It's a dangerous place at the best of times, but this makes it even worse.

It doesn't really make any difference. They probably knew his coming before the media put it out there. Given the green on blue attacks as well, the Taliban have infiltrated the afghan military from inside and have access to intel.

I take my hat off to him!! Well done that man! He had a bit of a party before he went, so what! He is the biggest target in the Afghanistan, they are going to try to shoot down every chopper they see to be able to say "we killed him"! This is one seriously brave boykie! This is the sort of spirit that will make "royalists" of all of us.
