Los Angeles - Prince George has been nicknamed Georgie by the British Royal Family.
The one-week-old royal's grandfather Prince Charles revealed the nickname as he met well-wishers at the Whitstable Oyster Festival in Kent, south east England, on Monday, and admitted the little one is "very loud", but he is "pleased as punch" with his first grandchild.
Speaking to visitors, he said: "He'll be known as Georgie in no time."
Charles - whose grandfather was King George VI - also gave the "wonderful" prince's moniker a royal seal of approval, telling a member of the public: "George - a very good name."
Presents for George
The Prince of Wales, 64, seemed particularly pleased about becoming a grandfather for the first time and even cracked a joke about his new responsibilities.
He told 66-year-old Lynda Robinson: "Ah, here we go. Is this the granny section? Well I suppose this is where I should stand now."
Charles was joined by his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, at the event, and the pair were inundated with presents for George, including a toy red dragon, which symbolises Wales, to mark the family connections to the country. The pair also received a tiny T-shirt for the tot.
