Royal wedding gifts R11m strong

London - More than R11m will be distributed to charities chosen by Prince William and the former Kate Middleton from donations made in place of wedding presents.

The figure also includes money raised from the sale of an official royal wedding CD and photographs.

Officials said on Wednesday the money in the Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund will be distributed to 26 charities.

Some of the charities are based in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The royal couple had requested that wedding guests and the public make donations to the fund rather than buy gifts.
