At nearly 1 square metre in size, the painting is considered a landmark work by the American Pop artist created toward the end of his life.
It was exhibited for the first time in London in 1986, just six months before his death.
Earlier this year, a 1.8 metre self-portrait by Warhol sold for more than $17m at Christie's London auction.
The auction record for a Warhol is $71.7m, for Green Car Crash.
