Former Buckingham Palace guard reveals he almost shot the Queen

Cape Town – A walk in the early hours of the morning nearly cost Queen Elizabeth her life.

A former guard of Buckingham Palace revealed to UK’s The Times that he nearly shot the queen after he mistook her for an intruder.

According to the guard the Queen often puts a jacket on and goes for a walk in the middle of the night if she can’t sleep and happened to be walking around at 03:00 one morning when he was patrolling the perimeter.

After shouting for the figure he saw to reveal themselves and then realising it was the queen, the guard reportedly blurted, “Bloody hell, Your Majesty, I nearly shot you!”

Thinking that his response would get him into trouble the guard waited for HM to reprimand him but she simply replied, “That’s quite alright” and added that she’ll let them know next time she goes out for a walk.
