Cape Town – David Beckham and Queen Elizabeth reunited on Thursday night, when they shook hands at the Queen’s Young Leaders Awards.

The former professional football player was invited as a special guest to her event at Buckingham Palace in London.

Upon welcoming David and the rest of her guests, the queen approached the hunky model with the biggest smile and we totally get why!

This is the second year David has been involved in this programme. He said on Instagram: "It’s the second year I’ve been involved in the programme and I’m continually impressed by these inspiring young people who are running amazing projects around the world."

The Queen’s Young Leaders Awards "discovers, celebrates and supports exceptional young people from across the commonwealth, leaving a lasting legacy for her majesty the queen."

Congratulations to the #QueensYoungLeaders of 2016
