Cape Town - There’s still a week left of the Cape Town Fringe Festival, where about 70 productions by the country’s most exciting, emerging and established theatre practitioners are popping up throughout the city.
Here are 3 productions that you can still catch:
1. You Suck and Other Inescapable Truths
The hilarious Klara van Wyk’s latest work sounds like a much funnier local mashup of Mean Girls and Gossip Girl. Teenage angst meets Van Wyk’s deadpan humour and biting social commentary.
“We are tired of Swan f***ing Lake,” says the team from Nyamaropa Creative Inc dance company, whose latest production describes ballet as a “white tendency” that “must fall” for other dance forms to rise.
3. The Gruffalo
An all-black cast performs this West End smash hit based on the beloved children’s book of the same name. This is the South African premiere.
The restored statue of baby Jesus and his mother has left churchgoers scratching their heads, but has unsurprisingly delighted internet viewers. Read More »
