Cape Town – Radio station 5FM celebrated Valentine's Day by breaking the world speed dating record twice at their annual Love Sucks parties in Cape Town and Johannesburg on Monday.
According to 5FM the Cape Town party saw 432 people speed dating and the Johannesburg party had 448 people speed dating.
5FM Station Manager Aisha Mohamed said: "5FM never does things by halves and we thought why not break a world speed dating record at the same time as hosting two amazing parties!"
The speed dating happened over a period of two hours on Valentine's Day to beat the existing record of 414 people, held at the Paris Club restaurant in Chicago.
The station hosted independent notaries at both its Cape Town and Johannesburg events to officiate proceedings and is awaiting official confirmation of the record from Guiness, which should happen over the next few weeks, reports 5FM.
5FM and Vuzu's annual Love Sucks party was started in 2010 and this year speed daters in attendance had the opportunity to speed date celebrity 5FM DJs and Vuzu presenters in cars parked at the venues.
