Johannesburg - 5FM has been nominated for five Worldwide Radio Summit Awards.
The ceremony will take place from the 2-4 May at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
The event is considered the Oscars of the radio world, and 5FM has been nominated for Best International Online Presence, Most Influential Station and Most Innovative International Radio Station.
Gareth Cliff nominated
Gareth Cliff also picked up a nomination for Best International Radio Personality and programme manager Tim Zunckel hopes to walk away with the award for the Best International Programme Director.
Gareth thanked his listeners on Tuesday for the nomination: "This is awesome for myself and for the station and I am absolutely thrilled.
"South Africa has the best listeners and they are so diverse and without them tuning in day after day, this nomination would not be possible. For this I thank them".
5FM's station manager Aisha Mohamed said she was "incredibly proud" of her colleagues for their achievement, saying the nominations were testament to "the dedication of an exceptional and talented team."
'We're highly honoured'
"We're highly honoured to be nominated in the Influential International Radio Station category, especially alongside such globally powerful radio players. It is a huge achievement to have not only the 5FM brand but also Gareth Cliff and Tim Zunckel recognised on a global scale," Mohamed said.
Nominee Zunckel said: "I love radio because of its emotions and the tenacity of this extremely close community. Just being nominated amongst the best in the industry, on a global platform, can only be described as an honour and privilege. I am very grateful."
