Cape Town – Well-known Afrikaans author, André P. Brink has died.
The 79-year-old writer died on a flight from Amsterdam to Cape Town, Netwerk24 reported.
Brink’s ex-wife, Alta, confirmed the reports to Netwerk24.
Tributes for the author have been streaming in on social media.

Brink wrote in both Afrikaans and English and was a Professor of English at the University of Cape Town.
As one of Die Sestigers, alongside poet Ingrid Jonker, Brink used Afrikaans to speak against Apartheid.
Some of his most famous works include Devil's Valley, Anderkant die Stilte and Looking on Darkness.
