Johannesburg - Film critic Leon van Nierop says well-known Afrikaans TV and film actor Andrew Thompson, who committed suicide on Friday, recently seemed to be depressed.
The 26-year-old actor's body was found in his flat in Cresta, Johannesburg, on Friday. He had hanged himself.
Sunday newspaper Rapport said Thompson's girlfriend found his body when she came to visit.
Van Nierop said he regarded Thompson as the greatest new talent in the Afrikaans film industry.
He was immensely talented and he had a bright future before him, he said.
