Evita joins the ANC, adopts baby

Johannesburg – Tannie Evita Bezuidenhout has become a member of the ANC - "to keep them on the right path, of course."

The famous tannie and former diplomat made the announcement on Monday with fluttering lashes in a striking designer gown of green, gold and black, and waved her hairy hand covered with rings through the air.

"I watched them from the sideline and it's time I got involved and pull our government out of its fantasy of liberation to reality."

Julius Malema

Bezuidenhout, legendary South African and self-appointed political critic, addressed the media on Monday at the Johannesburg State Theatre and said: "The ANC is our democratic government, for the people, from the people. Who apparently doesn't like the people."

Tannie Evita also appears in "that third-rate comedian, Pieter-Dirk Uys's'" new show, Adapt or Fly, which will be running from Tuesday. It refers back to a show of 30 years ago, Adapt or Dye, inspired by PW Botha.

She will also introduce her adopted son, Johannes from Polokwane, Limpopo, to the community.

"Charlize Theron recently adopted an African-American. People say this one of mine makes them makes think of someone, but I'm not sure who."

The "baby" is apparently identical to Julius Malema, suspended ANC youth leader.

'Who could they arrest?'

Uys also said there are definite similarities in the political landscape of today and 30 years ago.

"It's not the politics of black and white, but of a society - there are secrets, laws and the people are poor and angry."

Since 1975 all his Afrikaans performances have been banned. "But I was never arrested. Who could they arrest? Me or that Evita?"
