We’ve all seen the social-media images of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s celeb friends and family wearing a pair of the Adidas original Yeezy Boost 350 ahead of the global release, but – thankfully – the shoe is now in South Africa.

Released globally on Saturday, the Yeezy Boost 350 is composed of beautiful yet simple materials, which the global apparel brand says speaks to West’s ambition to create a clean, modern, effortless template for footwear and apparel.

Largely seen as Adidas’ answer to the Nike Roshe shoes, which have been successful in a variety of colour options, including the Flyknit woven version, the Boost 350 comes entirely in Adidas’ Primeknit, which is a material intended to fit the wearer like a second skin.

The shoe is part of a collaboration between West and Adidas on a collection of shoes and apparel called Yeezy Season 1.

The first Boost boot released by West this year sold out worldwide in record time, so if you want a pair of Yeezy kicks, you’ll have to move quickly. – Gugulethu Mhlungu

.The Yeezy Boost 350 is available from Shelflife in Cape Town and AREA3 in Braamfontein, Joburg, for a recommended retail price of R2 999. To find out more about the collaboration, visit adidas.com/kanye

Moja Love's drug-busting show, Sizokuthola, is back in hot water after its presenter, Xolani Maphanga's assault charges of an elderly woman suspected of dealing in drugs upgraded to attempted murder. In 2023, his predecessor, Xolani Khumalo, was nabbed for the alleged murder of a suspected drug dealer. What's your take on this?
