Cape Town – Yo-Landi Vi$$er, who along with Ninja, make up the South African band Die Antwoord, has confirmed that she was approached to play the main character in the film version of the top-selling The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
Hollywood director David Fincher, known for films like Fight Club and Seven, apparently wanted to cast Vi$$er in the role of the tough and feisty Lisbeth Salander.
Vi$$er’s appearance and attitude apparently attracted Fincher’s attention.
Vi$$er confirmed that she had been approached for the film role, speaking from Poland, where Die Antwoord was currently on tour.
She said she wasn’t interested, however, as Die Antwoord was “her life”.
She said she didn’t know the book “but a few people have told me of the main character and said that I remind them of her.”
