Cape Town - Latex! In this heat?
That was the question on everyone’s mind the second the YFM Twins, Hlelo and Ntando Masina, arrived at the J&B Met.
Clad in matching red S&M-inspired jump suits, the duo made for a fascinating and different picture, just what this year’s Made Different theme suggested.
This is the event where the YFM Twins have to compete with the likes of flamboyant choreographer Somizi Mhlongo, who was dressed in a David Tlale OTT number.
Others who made their own statements included Uyanda Mbuli, who ditched her DFC Couture outfits for a gold and white Schoeman dress and Christian Louboutins, as per usual.
Top Billing presenter Jeannie D looked classy in a Kluk CGDT dress, while surfer Roxy Louw brought sexy back with a dress that showed off her tan and a whole lot of cleavage.
Bonang Matheba was in a Gert-Johan Coetzee black leather half-bustier paired with a black and white leather skirt, while former Miss SA Jo-Ann Strauss brought her different look in a Stefania Morland orange tutu dress with glitter. However she was out-glittered by Zone 14 actress Pearl Thusi, who wore a long black dress with sequin detail.
But not everyone went to designers for their outfits. Singer LeAnne Dlamini wore a glamorous gold and black-beaded vintage dress she bought at the last minute.
As for the men, everywhere you looked there was salmon. And Carducci C-Squared is to blame.
Rapper AKA, celebrating his 24th, was in salmon linen pants, Kgosinkwe was in salmon shorts and just about every other male personality dressed by the brand had salmon somewhere in their outfits.
In all fairness, the theme was tricky, but the fun-loving crowd took up the challenge.
