Jan Blohm 'too sensitive for this world'

Cape Town - "I don't always know whether Jan Blohm is good for George. But music is his passion and his life and I will never take that away from him."

This is what Zinta Kymdell, wife of Afrikaas blues rock singer Jan Blohm (George Kymdell), said in an interview with Sarie magazine for their January issue.

Blohm, 33, recently appeared in the news when his show at Dorpstraat Theatre in Stellenbosch was stopped. According to reports, he drank too much and the owner of the theatre, Michelle Nolte, asked him to stop the show after his fourth song.

Blohm and Kymdell found out a week ago that she is eight weeks pregnant.

'Too sensitive'

Kymdell told Sarie that she knew about his drinking problem and his bipolar disorder long before their wedding in July 2010.

"I would still have gotten married, even if someone warned me. There are also the happy days. I live for those days. He makes me feel special and we have wonderful times together."

Every time he succumbed, his wife was his safety net.

"It breaks my heart every time to see him like that. People judge him, but they don't know him. They don't know about the George who is hiding behind the controversy. The George that's actually too sensitive to live in this cruel world."

Jerry Springer Show

Earlier this year Blohm appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court when Kymdell charged him with assault.

"The disease has become like those digital pets, the Tamagotchis," she said. "I had to feed and care for it, nurture it and keep it alive. It couldn't go on like that. It swallowed my life. I have reached a cut-off point. "

Yet, she soon withdrew the complaint against Blohm and decided to give their marriage another chance.

She alleges in Sarie that Blohm has pushed her around, but has never hit her.

"Our lives have changed into an episode of the Jerry Springer Show. It's humiliating. The same things hit other people, but because George is also Jan Blohm, our lives are being exposed by the media."
