Joost wanted to hit Kurt over Amor

Johannesburg – A fist-fight nearly broke out between former Springbok captain Joost van der Westhuizen and singer Kurt Darren when Van der Westhuizen confronted Darren and Amor Vittone one night in her house.

"Joost stormed in on us and he was furious," said Darren, who celebrated his birthday on Sunday.

"I reminded him that he asked me to drive behind Amor to see that she got home safely after a function we both attended, because she had a little too much to drink."

Darren celebrated his birthday with mixed feelings.

'I don't even find Amor attractive'

"I am very disappointed that I am being involved in Joost and Amor's public battles and their preoccupation with publicity. Yes I was with Amor in her house in Dainfern in Johannesburg that particular night that Joost is talking about in the latest issue of Huisgenoot. The couple was still together, but Joost was at a 'guys night' in Brits.

"On arrival at her home, she asked if I wanted to quickly look at her and Joost's awards. The maid, Amor and I went to the room concerned when a very angry Joost stormed in. Can you believe that he's now, after all these years, saying I embraced Amor? And that while the maid is watching?

"I don't even find Amor attractive and I want absolutely nothing to do with them."

Requests for comment

Vittone, who hasn't responded to requests for a comment from Beeld since Friday, appointed her third lawyer last week in her divorce with Van der Westhuizen. Selwyn Shapiro said on Sunday he can't comment.

"All I can say is that from our side we are trying to accelerate the divorce."

Robert Klinkenberg, Van der Westhuizen's lawyer, said the delay "is certainly not our fault".

Van der Westhuizen is in Dubai for a fundraising campaign for J9, his charity organisation.
