Local sex survey gives hot tips

Cape Town - Ever wondered what the best technique is to satisfy a women between the sheets?

For once, men and women agree - both sexes see an emotional connection as the key to satisfying a woman when being intimate.

The finding arose from a survey on sex that magazines Men's Health and Women's Health conducted with the help of 1 000 South African participants earlier this year.

People between the ages of 18 and 40 of which most were between 25 and 30, participated in the poll. Bloemfontein seems to be the sexiest city in South Africa according to the study.

The results – including hot sex tips – will appear in the July editions of the magazines which will be available on Monday.

Questions from the survey included: "How long do you want intercourse to last?" and "describe your partner's penis size".

'Fascinating'

Editor of Men's Health, Jason Brown said: "Our readers' bold confessions give South Africans insight into what both men and women want these days."

Lori Cohen, Women's Health's deputy editor and writer of the article said her first impression of the results is that men don't hesitate to discuss their emotions.

"About 300 more men than women participated in the survey. It is encouraging to know that men are willing to share intimate details."

"What is also fascinating is that both woman and men consider an emotional connection as the most important thing in satisfying a woman."

Well endowed men

"I think the occurrence of HIV/Aids in South Africa is a bigger factor than our conservative attitude. For example, 12.7% of women say that they will only have sex with a new partner after discussing it or when dating exclusively whilst 11.3% say that they will only have sex if both have HIV/Aids tests done.

"When it comes to sex I don't think we should not convince ourselves that we are different from other couples in the world."

Another interesting fact from the survey is that South African men are well endowed. All together 62.1% of women say their partner's penis is just right.

One in every seven participants confessed that they have faked an orgasm.
