Johannesburg - Singer Kurt Darren says he received two death threats after former Springbok Joost van der Westhuizen found him and Van der Westhuizen's estranged wife, Amor Vittone, in the couple's house one night.
Darren confronted Van der Westhuizen "man to man " about the threats.
"Joost said it wasn't him but a certain Italian who has ties with the Mafia," Darren said on Monday.
"I have kept silent over the incidents up to now, because my private life should remain private. But because I've now been involved in Joost and Amor's antics without my knowledge, I've decided to make the whole truth public for the first time."
Stranglehold
"I was at a function which Joost also attended. When I walked to my car, a huge, strong man walked up to me and asked for my autograph.
"I agreed. Just when I started to sign, he grasped me in a stranglehold and said I will 'die' if I don't stop destroying people's marriages.
"Not long after, I was staying in a guest house where I was performing. A note was pushed under my door which read in very poor English that I will be killed because I interfere with people's marriages.
"I decided to talk to Joost about it. It was then that he told me about the Italian Mafia member that is involved with the threats. I decided to leave everything there and go on with my life."
Van der Westhuizen is still in Dubai and not available for comment.
