Johannesburg - Socialite and professional spotlight-hogger Khanyi Mbau is set to ruffle some feathers when her biography hits the shelves on August 15.
Penned by City Press’ Lesley Mofokeng, the 27-year-old’s Bitch, Please! I’m Khanyi Mbau has already caused a buzz in entertainment circles.
But the humiliating and controversial revelations in the book might not see the light of day if former lover Theunis Crous makes good on his threats of a court interdict.
According to a friend of the businessman, Crous is prepared to fight the release of the book if its contents tarnish his reputation.
“When the two broke up they signed an agreement that they would no longer discuss each other in the press. By releasing this book, Khanyi is effectively breaching the contract,” said Crous’ friend.
But last week Mbau rubbished the statement.
“I didn’t sign anything that said I cannot talk about Theunis. I know I cannot contact him – that is all – and by writing the book I am not contacting him,” said Mbau.
In one of the biography’s surprising confessions, the former Muvhango actress reveals that her first sexual encounter with Crous was while still she was married to first public sugar daddy Mandla Mthembu – and that it was “a bit of a disappointment”.
'Funny little thing'
“Theunis was not that good. He’s got a funny little thing. After the first time I was like: is this is how Primrose rolls? Two kids later? Damn!”
Mbau also refers to Crous’ Primrose as “not that sharp” because she was oblivious to the torrid affair her husband was having with her supposed friend.
“Theunis suggested Khanyi spend the night [at his Dainfern home] so he could sneak into the bedroom, but Khanyi refused,” reads a passage.
Crous refused to comment when City Press contacted him.
He is not the only one being felled by the struggling singer’s poisoned pen – she also takes a swipe at Mthembu, revealing that he paid a whopping R200 000 lobola, but that their idyllic jet-set lifestyle was short-lived.
According to Mbau, when she was seven months pregnant with the couple’s daughter, Mthembu slapped her so hard across the face that she hit her head against a chair.
This happened during one of the former millionaire businessman’s jealous fits.
'Affair' with gay choreographer
Mbau claims Mthembu accused her of having an affair with openly gay choreographer and actor Somizi Mhlongo.
“You’ve been having sex with Somizi. You went to his birthday party and only came [home] at one in the morning. Are you sure you are even carrying my child?”
Mbau claims that in her abusive relationship with Mthembu, he pushed her down stairs, stepped on her and cheated on her with a waitress. “We fought almost daily . . . he’d hit me and I’d hit him back,” says Mbau in the book.
City Press tried without success to track down Mthembu.
Since his fall from grace, Mthembu sightings have included New York City, Jabulani and Springs, but nobody really knows where he is.
An adamant Mbau last week stood by everything she said in the book. “I wrote my book as a trail of my history and origin, defining my destination.
“I am not out to expose or destroy anyone. I am past that,” she said.
