THUMEBLINA, the KZN Midlands Youth Ballet Company’s inaugural ballet production, will be staged at the Hilton College Theatre on July 8 and 9.
Robin van Wyk, artistic director of the Cape Town City Ballet, together with local ballet teachers, recently formed the company. Following auditions in Pietermaritzburg earlier this year, 71 dancers were selected to be part of Thumbelina. They will share the stage with nine dancers from the Cape Town City Ballet.
Van Wyk, who is directing the production, is hoping that the Pietermaritzburg public will show their appreciation for this beautiful art and support the youth ballet company.
Performances of Thumbelina will take place at 2.30 pm and 6 pm on July 8 and 9. Tickets are R100 and R80 for pensioners and children under 12. Book at www.hiltontheatre.co.za, 033 383 0126 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
