No quiet arrival for Monaco newlyweds

Durban - Efforts to keep the arrival of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco quiet were dashed on Tuesday when government photographers sent out pictures of the couple being welcomed at King Shaka International Airport.

The couple, who have arranged a party to celebrate their marriage at Umhlanga’s Oyster Box Hotel on Thursday, were among the dignitaries who arrived to attend the International Olympic Committee meeting that will choose a host city for the 2018 Winter Games.

The prince is a member of the committee, which will deliberate and vote today.

It appears that the couple will be staying at Durban’s Hilton Hotel and then fly by helicopter to their VVIP party in Umhlanga.

The presidency announced that the couple will have lunch with President Jacob Zuma on Wednesday.

At the Oyster Box Hotel manager Wayne Coetzer said: “We can’t disclose too much about the planning, but it’s safe to say that Thursday evening will be an unforgettable one.”
