ProVerb details accident

Cape Town - M-Net and 94.7 Highveld Stereo have confirmed that presenter and DJ ProVerb accidentally knocked down a 37-year-old Zimbawean woman in traffic in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

In a joint statement released by both companies, ProVerb detailed the events, saying: "It was an accident and  I am giving the family and woman's employer my full support.

"I stayed with her on the scene to make sure she received the attention she needed and I went to the hospital as soon as was possible to check on her.  At this point in time, I can confirm that she has no broken bones.

"I am waiting for further details on the head injury she sustained."

Too close

ProVerb also spoke to 702 Eyewitness News and recounted the minutes before the accident.

He said: "There was a pedestrian on the side of the road, unfortunately she was only looking the opposite way, and just as I got close to her she took a step into the road.

"I tried to sway and hit the brakes and do all I can but unfortunately I was too close and I had a collision with her."

The incident took place on Paul Kruger Drive in Roodepoort when ProVerb, whose full name is  Tebogo Thekiso, was travelling home after his 04:00-06:00 DJ slot on the station.

Highveld Stereo station manager Ravi Naidoo as well as M-Net's channel manager Pierre Cloete have both said they are supporting ProVerb "during this difficult time".
