Cape Town - The Idols presenter who knocked over a woman in Johannesburg on Wednesday is still in shock after the incident, according to M-Net's publicist for Original Productions, Ingrid Engelbrecht.
Engelbrecht confirmed that the "freak" accident happened on Wednesday after ProVerb, whose real name is Tebogo Thekisho, completed his 04:00-06:00 slot on 94.7 Highveld Stereo. She further confirmed that ProVerb called emergency services and the police immediately.
The woman's name and age are not yet known, but it has been confirmed that she is being treated at the Leratong State Hospital in the West Rand.
According to a witness, the woman was crossing the road when she was hit by a car on Paul Kruger Drive near the Katode Road junction in Wilgeheuwel, Roodepoort.
Netcare spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said the woman sustained significant head trauma and that "she remains critical at this stage".
Proverb is still at the hospital with the woman's family.
M-Net and Highveld will be issuing a joint statement with regards to the incident later on Wednesday.
