Publisher bungles Deon Meyer cookbook

Cape Town - Deon Meyer's cookbook had tongues wagging due to allegedly containing recipes from Sarie's food editor without acknowledging her, and now the publisher is taking full responsibility for the blunder.

Human & Rousseau, the publisher of novelist Deon Meyer and his wife Anita's cookbook Kom Eet! Om die Tafel met Anita en Deon Meyer, has promised to rectify the mistakes.

The book contains six recipes that belong to Barbara Joubert, food editor of Sarie, and she is not credited for them.

"Human & Rousseau takes full responsibility for the editorial oversight with the recognition of the sources of the six recipes of Barbara Joubert used," Surita Joubert, the publisher's publicity officer for non-fiction, said.

"The publisher informed the authors that there is no copyright on recipes."

She said the omission will be rectified in all reprints and that the Meyers at no time claimed that the recipes were their own.
