Cape Town - Winner of South Africa’s So You Think You Can Dance Sibahle Tshibika and her family have gone into hiding after being threatened with kidnapping, reports iol.
After walking away with R250 000 in prize money on Saturday at the finale of So You Think You Can Dance in Johannesburg, Khayelitsha dancer Tshibika, 23, and her family were warned by three people, including a close friend, that a target has been put on her for when she returns home.
This comes after reports on Tuesday that Tshibika’s grandmother, 72-year-old Beatrice Tshibika, passed away after collapsing while watching her granddaughter win the competition on Saturday.
According to iol, Tshibika’s mother decided the family should go into hiding after she was warned by a neighbour that her daughter’s life is in danger. She made the right decision at the right time as burglars broke into their Khayelitsha shack on Tuesday. Fortunately, the family was already gone.
According to Ed Worster, spokesperson for Rapid Blue, the producers of So You Think You Can Dance, the show is assessing the situation as to provide security for Tshibika and her family.
