Johannesburg - North West province is bidding to host the Miss Universe pageant next year, the provincial department of sports and culture said on Monday.
Spokesperson Emelda Setlhako said the pageant's organising committee was visiting the Sun City Resort in the North West, to inspect it as a possible venue.
"Sun City has in the past hosted this event and that has brought the much-needed positive publicity for the country and North West."
She said the committee would announce the successful bidder on Thursday.
