SAHRC rejects murder complaint from Sunette Bridges and Steve Hofmeyr

Johannesburg - The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has rejected a complaint from Sunette Bridges and Steve Hofmeyr over the murder of white women, Beeld reported on Monday.

Bridges, Hofmeyr, and the Freedom Front Plus submitted a list of murdered white women to the commission earlier this year as part of a complaint against a group of academics.

This followed a series of articles by journalist Nechama Brodie, researcher Lisa Vetten, website Africa Check, and Professor Naeema Abrahams of the Medical Research Council, which indicated that white South African women had a greater chance of being murdered by a love partner than a black man who was a stranger.

Bridges had wanted Brodie and Vetten to apologise to all white South African men, and Africa Check to handle its studies of the murder of women properly.

The SAHRC found there was no grounds for the complaint, according to the report.
