SA's first Playboy Playmate revealed

2012-02-18 11:05
Johannesburg - Jade Fairbrother was announced as South Africa's first ever Playboy Playmate of the year, according to reports on Saturday.

The 25-year-old from Cape Town received the title on Friday night at a gala function held at the ZAR night club in Sandton, Johannesburg, the Saturday Star reported.

"It feels amazing. It still hasn't hit me though," Fairbrother told the newspaper.

"I've been thinking about it and it's just so unreal. It's the best news I have ever received."

Fairbrother received a customised Playboy pendant worth R50 000 and would spend five days at the Playboy mansion in Los Angeles as part of her prize.

She also won an expensive watch and would feature as the cover girl for the March edition of Playboy, the newspaper reported.

    Not much of a prize.

  • Jeffrey - 2012-02-18 13:27

How about a picture - even with her clothes on. After all she didn't get the prize for having a pretty name.

She is not much to look at I am afraid - too much like a barbie doll with dyed blonde hair - will fit in well at the Playboy Mansion.

This is shocking to see that woman in the modern era actualy think that it is an honor to pose naked in such trash. This county is in desprate need of a revamp of moral values

      Cracker - 2012-02-18 19:58

Piety is an affliction. I do recall something about your boss. The Rhema one. An example of restraint if ever there was one. His ex-wife had something to say. Can't quite recall all the detail now. But it should come back to me during the course of the evening. Johann, leave others alone and carry on in peace with your own bedroom antics and fantasies. Others are allowed theirs unless you of course would take the valiant path and explain to them how they should measure up to your habits and thinking. But then you will have to be absolutely honest with others about yours. Leave others alone.

@ Johann: Reaction Formation.. Google it, it will open your eyes!

      Gavin - 2012-02-19 07:36

  • Leoné - 2012-02-18 19:23

Who am I to judge, but Someone will be judging her for this "great achievement" one day...

      Garth Baldwin - 2012-02-18 20:26

You actually sounded quite judgmental yourself there... Hmmm, wonder how the big fella will take to that?

      MikeBrassellSA - 2012-02-20 10:58

Hey,,, read the story. No more judges. She is already the winner.

oh gosh you religious/conservative people (Johann, Leona) really need to wake up and get with reality. Do we live in the dark ages? No. Is she her own person who has the right to choose to do whatever she wants with HER life? Yes. If you don't like it, don't buy the magazine. This is 2012, not 1532...

      leonao - 2012-02-18 21:33

Please get the names right of the people you are talking to!!! It was NOT Leona!!!!! Duh!!!

      rlmbennett - 2012-02-18 23:52

Wesley please enlighten of the significance of the date you mention in your comment, namely 1532?

  • Johann - 2012-02-19 07:43

@Cracker. I did not take on anyone nor do I think myself better then anyone. I merely mentioned the fact that I think that this is an example of moral values going down the drain. I never worked at Rhema (you refer to my boss at rhema). I am however amazed that when a Christian raises his point of view all of a sudden we are judgmental. Remember it takes a judge to see a judge.

      Cracker - 2012-02-19 08:32

@ The Rhema Bible School? There is that connection. And HE is your big boss - at least spiritual. I find it fascinating that you are allowed to be judgmental but not others. Moral values going down the drain? Really? What do you measure your assessment against? Your religious outlook. So? What is wrong with my comment?

      Cracker - 2012-02-19 09:03

Taken from Conceiving God: The Cognitive Origin and Evolution of Religion by David Lewis-Williams: “Because faith, not rational thought, always has the final word, Augustine rather shockingly accepted the efficacy of forced conversion to Christianity and called upon the state to act against what he considered to be heresies. Had not Christ said, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and COMPEL them to come in, that my house may be filled’ (LUKE 14:23; emphasis added)? Once heretics had been forced into the Church, Augustine foolishly believed, true faith could be lovingly nurtured in them. Beat them and then love them. If you conquer your enemies and then help them to rebuild their shattered cities, they come to love you. The idea is still around. Not surprisingly, theologians and historians today debate whether Augustine can be held responsible for so many subsequent persecutions of Jews and supposed heretics who were ‘compelled’ to accept orthodox Christianity. He certainly made a handsome contribution to the implementation of that fearful policy...” The same mentality spoken about in the above quotation concerning Augustine is still around. It is a sickness of the religious mind. We see the consequences everywhere. The so-called innocent reference to moral values going down the drain just because of what others like to do with their sexuality and bodies is nothing more than a full-scale moral and pious judgment and aimed at a return of what Augustine stood for.

I think perhaps if the emphasis with Playboy was on health - celebrating healthy bodies to motivate us bad eating people haha it would be awesome. I'm not quite sure that we, as a society should celebrate sexuality - which is a very personal thing. I dont mind her posing, not that it matters what I mind but I really think the content of the articles should be about motivating people to eat better. Morals are relative and I personally dont see anything wrong with this. Maybe adjust the message thats all...
