'Sabina is not a FHM model'

Cape Town - FHM has distanced itself from Sabina Essa, a model who recently bragged on Twitter about bribing a metro cop.

The model posted the following update on her Twitter page: "Just got out of a R2500 fine for going 140 in a 60 zone. R30! Bwahahahaha. I LOVE JMPD."

The tweet has since been removed.

While Sabina does have a profile page on FHM's website, editor Brendan Cooper says she is not endorsed by the brand.

"On FHM's website we run a FHM Modelbook page whereby those who think they are worthy of being a model can showcase their pictures and information.

"However, FHM doesn't endorse any of these models or claim that they are FHM models.

"In order to qualify as a FHM model, the lady would have to appear in the actual magazine in order to earn that prestigious reputation."

Sabina later said that she fabricated the tweet for attention.

Modelbook rules

FHM explained just how their Modelbook competition works.

"FHM Modelbook allows for unknown talent to be discovered and win the ultimate FHM Modelbook winner prize, as voted for by the public.

"However, just for being showcased on the website does not entitle anyone to claim that they are a FHM model," said Cooper.

The 2011 Modelbook winner, Jessica Leandra dos Santos, was stripped of her title earlier this month for posting a racist remark on her Twitter page. She has since apologised.
