Johannesburg – So, it wasn’t aliens hovering over Johannesburg, ET landing again or District 9 wannabes.
Social media buzzed with reports and pictures of these "sightings" in Johannesburg suburbs on Tuesday. Interviews with a specialised 'UFOlogist' called Cristo Louw were also aired on 5FM and 702's Jenny Crwys-Williams show.
The website of the South African Coalition of Omnipresent Extra-Terrestrial Life also got its' fair share of eyeballs.
But Cartoon Network put a dampener on all the excitement.
It was merely a stunt for the launch of their brand new series Ben 10 Omniverse.
The 'UFOs' will continue to be seen in and around Johannesburg until the 15 September, according to Cartoon Network.
