Stars ride cross-country for Madiba

Johannesburg – Businessmen and celebrities will be celebrating Nelson Mandela’s 81st birthday by driving their motorcycles across South Africa.

“I am so honoured to be part of this again” said singer Bok van Blerk.

“I can’t wait to take to the road on a cold day and to warm a few hearts along the way” he said.

Jack Devnarian of Isidingo as well as businessmen Brendon Neuper, Constant Visser, Bertus Prinsloo and Sean Shipalana along with a host of popular radio personalities will take part in the tour, according to Nelson Mandela Foundation spokesperson Sello Hatang. The 26 motorcyclists will depart from Montecasino in Johannesburg on July 11.

They will ride through Gauteng, the Free State, KwaZulu Natal, Mpumalanga and a portion of Swaziland – returning to Pretoria on July 18 to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s birthday.

Every participant has pledged to donate at least 67 minutes of their time to various community projects along the way.

Other participants include Survivor 2011 winner Hykie Berg of Binnelanders fame, and 5FM presenter Anele Mdoda.
