THE Pietermaritzburg Amateur Music Society (Pams) Choir is hosting a Winter Concert at the Church of the Ascension in Hilton on Friday, June 19 at 7 pm and at the Lutheran Church in Hayfields at 2.30 pm on Sunday, June 21.
The concert will also feature the Kayser Quartet, Christopher Cockburn on organ, Geza Kayser and Jitske Brien on violin, Claire Hamilton on violin and viola and Nigel Fish on cello.
The soloists are Hanna Wapenaar (soprano), Annari van Jaarsveld (mezzo soparano), Riaan Oosthuizen (tenor), Andrew Butler (bass) and Walter Roelens (bass).
The choir will be conducted by Robin Walton.
The programme for the concert includes: Beethoven’s Hallelujah from The Mount of Olives, Op 85 and Creation’s Hymn from Six Songs, Op 48, Haydn’s String Quartet in F Minor Op 20 No 5, Adrian Batten’s O Sing Joyfully Unto God Our Strength, William Byrd’s Agnus Dei (from the Mass for Four Voices), Rachmaninov’s Ave Maria, and Bach’s Concerto for two violins in A minor, arranged for organ and Mozart’s Missa Brevis in F, K192.
