Zuma congratulates Hotstix on matric

Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma on Monday congratulated musician Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse on achieving his matric at the age of 61.

"On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, we extend our sincere congratulations to Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse for achieving this amazing milestone at his age," Zuma said in a statement issued by the presidency.

"You are indeed an inspiration to all of us by showing us that one is never too old for education. We admire your tenacity, discipline and your zeal to succeed, and wish you well in all your future endeavours."

Mabuse completed his matric at the Peter Lengene Adult Basic Education and Training Centre, which conducts classes at the Thaba Jabula High School in Klipspruit, Soweto, according to The Sowetan.

He wrote English, history, geography, business economics, accounting, technology, and Sesotho, the newspaper reported.
